Registering a maatschap with natural persons and non-natural persons

The maatschap (professional partnership) has partners consisting of human beings and organisations that are non-natural persons.

Before registering

1. Contact the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) or the municipality if you have benefits.

Do you want to start a business while you are receiving unemployment benefits (uitkering)? If so, discuss your plans with the UWV first. Or, if you are on social assistance benefit (bijstand), with your municipality.

2. More about the maatschap (professional partnership)

Do you want to carry out your profession with others as an independent entrepreneur? For example, as a dentist, architect, physiotherapist, farmer, or lawyer? Then you can choose to set up a professional partnership. Read more about the maatschap.

3. The difference between natural and non-natural persons

A natural person is a human being (a person of flesh and blood). Non-natural persons are organisations, for example a bv, cv, vof, cooperative, stichting, or maatschap. This page focuses on registering a maatschap with natural persons and non-natural persons (legal entities or partnerships). You can also:

Checklist for registering a maatschap

1. Complete the registration form

Fill in the digital registration form as completely as possible. The more complete the form is, the smoother your registration at the office will be.

Fill in your name without punctuation marks or diacritics

When entering your name on the form, do not enter any characters such as a diaeresis or accent. This will cause an error that prevents us from sending an email and prevents you from continuing with the registration. Your name can be changed later.

2. Register UBOs

UBOs (ultimate beneficial owners) are the ultimate stakeholders of an organisation. You need to register them when you start a new maatschap First determine who the UBOs of your organisation are. Then complete form 32 and take it with you to your appointment.

3. Make an appointment

Have you completed the forms? Then you can immediately make an appointment at a KVK office of your choice. You do this by logging in with DigiD (at the bottom of this page).

About the appointment

The partners who are natural persons must visit the office and bring with them:

  • valid proof of identity.
  • Form 10a: 'registration partner (maat)'. Fill it in with the details of the non-natural partner.
  • A copy of a valid identification document of the person who signed for the non-natural partner.

A KVK employee will check the identification documents and the completed forms.

Is your start date more than 2 months in the past?

Then you must prove that you have carried out business activities from the specified start date. For example, bring documents to your appointment showing that you have made investments or carried out assignments.
