KVK aims for climate-neutral business operations by 2030. That is why we reduce our CO2 emissions and increase our social impact.
Sustainable development goals
KVK is committed to a sustainable future, focusing on 3 pillars: people, the environment, and society. For each pillar, we commit to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We focus on 6 SDGs on which we as an organisation can make a real impact. With our RBC policy, we translate these goals into concrete actions.
People
As an employer, we are committed to the health and well-being of our employees. And we work on diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I). We do this on the basis of SDGs 3 and 5.
SDG 3: Good health and well-being
Our employees make KVK. We provide a working environment where they feel healthy and energetic. With good working conditions, room for development, and a healthy work-life balance, we help them get the best out of themselves.
SDG 5: (Gender) equality
SDG 5 is about equal rights and opportunities for men and women. At KVK, we embrace this goal, but look wider: we strive for equality for all. We want our organisation to reflect entrepreneurial Netherlands, because we believe that this is how we can add maximum value. That is why we actively work towards a diverse, equal, and inclusive working environment. The KVK Inclusive programme helps make this concrete, with initiatives that increase awareness of mutual differences and ensure equal opportunities.
Environment
We reduce our environmental footprint by continuously making our operations and ways of working more sustainable. We link our targets to SDG 13.
SDG 13: Climate action
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. KVK is committed to SDG 13 by continuously making its own business processes and ways of working more sustainable. The aim is to reduce its negative impact on the environment. Using the CO₂-Performance ladder, we structurally reduce our emissions. We also support our employees with green working conditions, such as a sustainable home office and environmentally friendly commuting.

Society
We are a reliable and transparent public service provider with a focus on good commissioning practices. To ensure this, we focus on SDGs 8, 16, and 17.
SDG 8: Fair work and economic growth
Decent work, sustainable economic growth, and fair distribution of wealth; that is what this SDG is about. The way KVK contributes to SDG 8 is reflected in its provision of services, operations, good employment practices, and commissioning. Think about offering traineeships, internships and our participation programme. In procurement decisions and tenders, we consider social, sustainable and ethical factors.
SDG 16: Peace, justice, and strong public services
SDG 16 is about ensuring strong, reliable, and fair public institutions. With our Data Vision, we meet a clear need from society and politics. Privacy in the register task is at the forefront of this. KVK is aware of the tension between privacy and legal certainty. In everything we do, we strive for a balance that does justice to both values.
SDG 17: Collaborative partner and connector
This SDG stands for global cooperation to achieve the development goals by 2030. As an organisation, we contribute to this goal by exchanging knowledge and joining forces with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, (network) partners, suppliers, and other intermediaries. Because social impact is something you make together.
