The KVK Import Tool is for all business owners in the Netherlands who import consumer goods – or who are planning to do so – such as food, drink, electronics, clothing, toys, or any other consumer goods.
The KVK Import Tool is easy to use. First, select the import country. Then select the product group and the product. You will then get answers to 7 questions about key laws and regulations with more information available via the links.
You can see the key laws and regulations governing the import of your product at a glance in a handy overview. Sometimes you will need to find out more. To do so, use the links in the answers the KVK Import Tool gives you. You can also ask for help from specialists such as forwarding agents, the Customs Administration of the Netherlands, and consultancy firms specialising in product and food safety. And always check in advance whether there are any sanctions against your foreign business partner.
In addition to laws and regulations, there are other important topics related to importing. These include cultural differences, payment options, finding business partners, and making agreements about transport with Incoterms®. These topics are not covered in the KVK Import Tool.
