How do I prepare for an emergency?

An emergency can have a major impact on your business. Think of a prolonged power cut, a cyberattack, supply chain issues, or extreme weather. Which risks matter to you depends on your business. By preparing thoroughly, you can minimise the damage and get back to work more quickly.

In this video, presenters Max and Lisanne explain how to prepare your business for an emergency situation, and why it is important to chart the risks for your business, in one minute. English subtitles are available.

This is how you prepare

First, chart the stiuations that may affect your business. For example:

  • a prolonged power cut
  • delivery problems
  • extremw weather
  • a cyberattack
  • cybercriminaliteit

Then, check where your business is vulnerable. Ask yourself questions like:

  • Will your payment system or production process still work after a power cut?
  • Do you have an offline backup of important data?
  • How do you stay in touch with clients and suppliers during an emergency?
