Deregister an eenmanszaak

Find out how to deregister an eenmanszaak. What are the consequences?

Do you want to end your eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship)? Then you must deregister it with KVK. You can do this online with your DigiD. Deregistration is free. Deregistration is final, and it has consequences. So read the steps carefully first.

Before you deregister

First check whether deregistration is really necessary.

  • Do you want to stop temporarily? You cannot deregister temporarily. Read more about putting your business on hold.
  • Are you not sure whether to go on or stop? Find information and tips for several situations, so you can make the right choice.

This is how you deregister

  1. Check that you have taken care of everything

You often have a lot to arrange when you are going to end a business. Deregistering is the last step. So first read the ending your business checklist to make sure you are prepared.

  2. Choose a deregistration date

When you deregister, you give a date on which your eenmanszaak ceases to exist. You must have ended all your business on that date. What else is there to take into account? Read our tips on how to choose your deregistration date.

  3. Notify KVK of the deregistration

You can deregister your sole proprietorship via My KVK. All you need is your DigiD.

    1. Log in to My KVK with your DigiD.
    2. Choose your eenmanszaak.
    3. Enter your deregistration date and sign the deregistration.

What happens after you deregister?

  • You can see the status of your deregistration in My KVK.
  • We send you a letter as soon as your deregistration has been entered into the Business Register. Keep this letter, it is proof of your deregistration.
  • We notify the Netherlands Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) of your deregistration.
