Requesting access to the UBO register for vennootschappen

KVK is expanding the options to access the UBO register for vennootschappen. This expansion makes it easier for such companies to view UBO data securely and reliably. Banks and solicitors are the first organisations able to apply for access.
What is changing?
Until recently, a UBO extract could only be requested by objectively recognisable Wwft organisations and sanctioning organisations if they have a KVK Dataservice subscription. As of 1 April 2026, there are more options for viewing register data.
You can request a digitally certified UBO extract in PDF format in two ways:
- via an API link
- via the KVK website
Need UBO data often?
Do you often need data from the UBO register? If so, use the UBO API. To gain access, you must apply for authorisation at organisation level.
To apply for authorisation via the API, you need to follow a few steps:
Step 1: apply for an API subscription
Step 2: request authorisation
Step 3: upload a certificate
You can find more information about these steps and an explanation of the UBO API on the KVK Developer . There you can read more about:
- the conditions you need to meet
- the required documents
- the technical requirements for the certificate
Ordering a UBO extract on the KVK website
If you only need to order an extract from the UBO register every once in a while, ordering via the website is a good alternative. You need authorisation on a personal level for that. This has to do with the use of eHerkenning at the highest level (EH4). Read more about applying for eHerkenning.
Would you like to view UBO data on the KVK website? Please let us know by emailing account@kvk.nl. We will be happy to assist you with all the information you need about the authorisation process.
Receive UBO data as structured data
Would you rather receive the UBO data in structured data format instead of a PDF? Then we advise you to wait until we launch the UBO API 2.0. This link will also provide a JSON file. We expect the API to be live in the middle of 2027.
Please note: the KVK UBO extract is only available in Dutch.
FAQ
All European countries must have a UBO register. KVK maintains this register in the Netherlands.
It shows who makes the decisions in an organisation and benefits the most. For example, if profits are made.
It can also help organisations such as the police investigate fraud.
The UBO Register for vennootschappen lists the UBOs of legal entities, such as the BV, NV, and VOF. The UBO Register is part of the Business Register.
The UBO Register for Trusts contains information on trustees. These are the UBOs of trusts, mutual funds, or similar legal structures. The UBO Register for Trusts is a separate register with its own website: .
All parties subject to the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft) obligation and who have access to UBO data are required to report any data that is incorrect. We refer to this as ‘reporting back’. It is a legal obligation. This includes UBOs who are not listed in the UBO register. Or people who are listed in the register but are not UBOs. You must also submit a correction if an incorrect interest is listed for a UBO, or if the size of that interest is incorrect.
The UBO register shows who the UBOs (Ultimate Beneficial Owners) of an organisation are. UBOs are the owners of an organisation or the people authorised to make the final decisions within an organisation. For example, because they hold more than 25% of the shares or are members of the board.
The UBO extract is a digitally certified PDF file. There are no separate data fields that can be imported. Would you prefer to receive UBO data via structured data fields rather than a PDF? If so, we recommend waiting for the API-UBO 2.0, which will become available in 2027. This API-UBO 2.0 is an interface that will also provide a JSON format.
The processing time cannot be determined in advance. This depends on the completeness of the application and the number of applications within that sector. KVK will notify organisations as soon as authorisation has been granted.
