Do you have an appointment to visit KVK to register your business? Then you might be wondering what to expect. Your registration visit is a positive moment: from now on, you are officially an entrepreneur! But did you know that you can also ask questions about starting your business during your appointment at KVK?
Before coming to our office, fill in the online registration form. That way, you can give us all the important details in advance. Your name and address, your company name, and what kind of business you are going to start. Once you have filled in everything, make an appointment at one of our offices. You can only schedule an appointment online.
Prepare for your appointment
Make sure you bring the right items to your appointment, such as a valid ID. Sometimes you need to bring extra documents. The rental contract for your business premises, for example. The email you receive from us confirming your appointment contains more information on what you need to bring with you.
You pay a one-time registration fee to register a new company or organisation. You will receive an email after your appointment with a payment request.Â

During your appointment
After reporting to the reception desk, wait until one of our staff members comes to collect you for your appointment. We will then check your ID and go through the details you entered on the online registration form. Together, we will check which SBI code suits your activities.
We will also check whether your company name is still available. You can check this yourself in advance with the KVK and BOIP Name Check. This ensures that you will not have to come up with a new company name during the appointment.
Do you have to show your business plan at the appointment?
Many starting entrepreneurs think they must show their business plan or diplomas when registering. Making a business plan is wise, but it is not mandatory for your registration.
Next, we explain what letters you can expect by post from KVK and the Netherlands Tax Administration. The Tax Administration will mail you your VAT identification number. Are all the details correct? Then we will register your business, and you will receive your KVK number immediately.
Sometimes we cannot complete the registration immediately. For example, because you will not start your business until later. In that case, you will receive your KVK number by post the week you start. It may also be that the information for your registration is not yet complete. In that case, you may have to come back again to complete your registration. So, make sure you have everything ready for your registration.
