Registering a legal entity under public law

You fill in a number of forms to register a legal entity under public law such as a municipality, independent governing body, or university. You send the forms by post to KVK to finalise the registration. Does the legal entity have commercial activities? Then you must also register its company.

What do I send by post to KVK?
- The completed and signed forms. Each form states who may sign it and which supporting documents you need to send along. The form also states whether you need to complete any other forms.
- A copy of a valid ID of each person who signed a form. Find out how to make a secure copy of the identity .
Send your registration to one of KVK' s postal addresses.
What happens after I have sent the forms?
- Check how long it KVK takes to process your registration. You will not receive any updates in between.
- Is your start date in the future? Then registration takes place one week before the start of your business.
- You will receive confirmation of registration and an invoice for the one-off registration fee by post.
- After registration, you can request a certified extract from the Business Register. You can use this as proof of registration. Some banks and wholesalers ask for an extract.

If the information you provide is not correct, we will contact you.
Changes for a date in the future
Are you submitting a change for a future date? Then you will only see the change in the Business Register on that date. For the UBO register, you cannot submit changes with an effective date in the future.Â
Confirmation
After your change has been processed in the Business Register and/or UBO register, you will receive confirmation by letter, or digitally via your Message account. Are you submitting the change online? Then you will also receive confirmation by email.
To register a new enterprise or organisation, you must pay a registration fee. If you want to purchase a certified KVK Extract from the Business Register when you register, you can do this directly.Â
