How do I change a CV to an eenmanszaak?

You fill in a number of forms to transfer a CV (limited partnership) to an eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship). It depends on your situation how you communicate the change to KVK.
Please note: do not deregister your CV separately if you want to change it to an eenmanszaak. If you do this, your existing contracts may be terminated. Think, for example, of your business bank account and insurance policies. Also, the history from the Business Register will not be included in the new eenmanszaak. This could affect, for example, applying for loans from the bank or subsidies from the government.
Will you become the new owner but already have an eenmanszaak?
You are not allowed to register a second eenmanszaak. Do you already have an eenmanszaak? Then it depends on the address of the CV and the eenmanszaak what you have to do.
The address of the CV is different from the address of your eenmanszaak
Then choose to register a new establishment. Download the forms below, fill them in, and send them by post. The form tells you who can sign it and what proof you need to enclose.
- Form 9: Register an establishment of a company
- Form 17: Report a dissolution of a VOF, CV, maatschap, or rederijÂ
Please also enclose a copy of the following documents:
- A valid proof of identity of the people signing the forms.
- And a copy of the lease, purchase, or rental contract signed by both parties.
The address of the CV is the same as the address of your eenmanszaak
If so, you are not allowed to register a new establishment. However, you can add an additional trade name or activities to your eenmanszaak. You can submit this to us online.
What forms do I need for registration?
Download the forms and fill them in. Each form says who can sign it and what other proof you need.
- Form 17: Report a dissolution of a VOF, CV, maatschap, or rederij.
- All partners sign at 3.1.
- At 4.1, tick 'no'.
- At 4.2, enter the date of continuation and the details of the new owner.
- Form 1: Register an eenmanszaak. At 1.1, indicate that it is a continuation of a business.
How do I report the change to KVK?
You may send the forms by post if your identity is known to KVK. Is this not the case? Then make an appointment at a KVK office.
Your identity is known to KVK
Are you a partner of the CV, and are you becoming the new owner of the eenmanszaak? And did you visit a KVK office after 1 March 2002 to identify yourself in person? Then send the completed forms and proof by post to KVK.
Sometimes you have to arrange additional things for your situation. For example, for your staff or your permits. We have listed everything you need to think about below.
Follow-up steps
- See how long it takes for the change to appear in the Business Register. You will not receive updates in between.
- You will receive confirmation of registration by post at the visiting address of the eenmanszaak. This is also where we send the invoice for the registration fee.
- After registration, you can request a certified extract from the Business Register. You can use this as proof of registration.
Identity not known to KVK
Then make an appointment to visit KVK. You do this by logging in with DigiD at the bottom of this page.
- You can make an appointment at any KVK office.
- Bring valid proof of identity with you, plus the completed forms and proof. After making your appointment, you will receive an email with an overview of what you need to bring.
- You pay a registration fee for the registration of a new company or organisation.
- You can immediately request a certified extract from the Business Register. You can use this as proof of registration.
What else do I need to consider?
The cooperation contract is no longer valid
Does the CV have a cooperation contract? And are the agreements of this set out in the Business Register? Then these are no longer valid from the start date of the eenmanszaak.
UBOs are deregistered
We deregister the CV's UBOs. You do not have to do anything for that. An eenmanszaak does not have any UBOs. So you do not need to register these again.
Liability
With an eenmanszaak, you are privately liable for everything you do in your business. Legally, there is no difference between your business and private affairs.
Visiting address and business activity
If you take over a business, the visiting address and at least 1 business activity must remain the same.
Start date
Is this in the future? Then you can already inform us of the change now. You will only see the changes from this date in My KVK.
Secondary establishment(s)
Is there a secondary establishment, such as another office or shop? These must then be re-registered with the eenmanszaak. Use Form 9: Registering a business establishment. Bring this form to the appointment. Or send it together with the other forms and documents to KVK by post.
Authorised representatives
Is there an authorised representative? They must be registered (again) with the eenmanszaak.
- Is the authorised representative a person? Then they must come to the appointment with a valid proof of identity. Â
- Is the authorised person an organisation? Use Form 13: Registering an authorised person or authorised commercial agent. Send it, together with the completed forms and proof, by post to KVK. Or bring the completed form with you to your appointment.Â
KVK number and VAT number
After changing your legal structure, you will always receive a new KVK number and VAT ID number. We will report this change to the Netherlands Tax Administration. You do not need to do anything for this.
Staff
If you have staff, the payroll tax number will also change. Read what you need to do for this on the website of the Tax Administration.
Changing contracts
Check whether you need to amend any existing contracts for your CV after the takeover. These could include rental and maintenance contracts, a business bank account, and insurance policies.
Check permits
Permits are often no longer valid if the legal structure of your business changes. You may need to reapply for permits. This can sometimes take weeks and often costs money. Discuss any questions you may have about this with the municipality or the KVK Advice Team.

You will find more information on transferring a company in the articles Final tax return when closing down, selling, or inheriting a business and A guide to changing your business structure on Business.gov.nl.

Have you made an appointment to register an eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship), VOF (general partnership) or maatschap (professional partnership)?
Then log in again with your DigiD on this page. Your appointment at KVK will be listed under 'registration details'. Here you can see when, at what time, and at which office the appointment was made. Here you can still cancel or change your appointment.
Apply for DigiD via www.digid.nl. You need your citizen server number (BSN) to apply.
Do you live outside the Netherlands and do not have a DigiD? Check which situation applies to you.
- You have Dutch nationality. You can apply for a DigiD. The DigiD tells you how to do this.
- You do not have Dutch nationality. Follow these steps to apply for a DigiD:
- First register with the Non-Residents Records (RNI).
- After registration with the RNI, you will immediately receive a citizen service number (BSN).
