A 'vereniging met beperkte rechtsbevoegdheid' (association with limited legal capacity), also called an 'informele vereniging', is a Dutch legal structure. If you have one, you do not have to register it with KVK. But you may want to do so: by registering, you limit the private liability of the board members.
Limited legal capacity means that the vereniging cannot perform all legal activities. For example, the vereniging is not fully legally independent. That means it cannot own real estate, like a house or building. Nor can a vereniging simply inherit.Â
Do you want to start a 'vereniging met volledige rechtsbevoegdheid' (association with full legal capacity)? The civil-law notary will do this for you.
No commercial activities: vereniging zonder onderneming
To register a vereniging zonder onderneming (association without commercial activities) you do not need to make an appointment to visit KVK.Â
1. Register via post
Download these forms, fill them in, and send them to KVK by post. Information about who is authorised to sign the form and the supporting documents you need to enclose is on the form. - Form 9a: Register an additional branch
- Form 13: Register an authorised representative

2. Next steps

- Check how long processing your registration takes. You will receive no updates inbetween.Â
- Is your starting date in the future? We will register your vereniging one week before the starting date.Â
